Southeast Asia is developing fast. A hub of activity, creation and learning, the education sector is relied upon to equip both young and adult learners to live in this changing world. How do we as educators ensure that the content of our courses and curriculums are relevant to our pupils? How do educators give students the necessary skills for success in this fast moving 21st century? What are those skills?

Join us for a discussion with some of Bangkok’s top female educators and experts in the field as they share their experience and talk about the future of education particularly in Southeast Asia.

The changing nature of education will be discussed along with the specific skill sets needed in the 21st century. The focus on more experiential learning and hands on approaches will be touched upon, as will the involvement of technology in education and the role of the teacher.

Our speakers for this discussion will be Sally Holloway – KIS International School, Sandy Loup – Stenden Thailand University, and Kate Jackson – Andragogy. The discussion will be led by Kim Cofino -Eduro Learning.

This event is open to anyone currently working in education or interested in the field. Men are encouraged to attend and we welcome your input into the discussion!

PANELISTS

Sally Holloway is the Head of KIS International School. She started her career in education in UK before moving to Washington DC where she worked at Washington International School. In 1998 Sally relocated again to Bangkok where she became the founding Head of KIS International School. She has served on the International Schools Association of Thailand’s Committee for over 10 years, supporting the International School Community, and she currently co-chairs the committee overseeing accreditation (both local and international). As the Head of an IB school Sally has become involved with the IB both at the regional and global level, she has served on the IB Asia Pacific Regional Council and was elected to the IB Heads Council where she was Chair from 2009-2010. In 2011 Sally was elected to join the IB Board of Governors, and she is currently the Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Governance Committee. Sally has a keen interest in School’s accreditation and she is a regular accreditation team visitor for the Council of International Schools (CIS), and has served on teams to schools in Hong Kong, Australia, Indonesia and The Philippines. In addition Sally is a CIS Accreditation Report reader. She has found her career in International Education to be deeply rewarding and values the opportunity to work with and learn from educator from around the world.

Sandy Loup is Academic Dean at sandy-at-cp-all-profileStenden Thailand. She combines 15 years of work in the international tourism and travel industry with over eight years of academic experience at Stenden University, The Netherlands. Having obtained both an international MBA degree as well as a Bachelor Degree in Tourism, Sandy held various positions within the field of Revenue Management, Marketing and Sales during her career at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. In 2008 Sandy started working for Stenden University of Applied Sciences,  The Netherlands, as a lecturer in the third year Strategic Semester at the International Hospitality Management BA Programme and later on as Academic Team leader for Stenden Hotel Management School. Furthermore, she is responsible for the professional guidance of Stenden’s hotel management students who are on internship in China and Vietnam. Since 2013 she has been at the helm of Stenden Thailand as Academic Dean, combining her managerial experience, industry background and academic expertise.

2Kate Jackson is the Director, lead consultant and trainer at Andragogy, her own company which she founded on the principles of adult learning and for the long-life learning sector. Based in Thailand for 16 years, Kate holds a BA Hons in Youth Work & Non-formal Education, MEd, DTLLLS (Diploma in Teaching in Longlife Learning Sector, UK Qualification for teaching 16yr +). Kate is also an Institute of Leadership & Management accredited training provider. Andragogy was founded to provide training to all industries & departments on the basis of delivering soft skills, communication and life skills training which is relevant, timely and tailor-made to meet all her clients (big and small) and her individual participant’s needs. Kate provides certified Train the Trainer courses and is a guest lecturer at Leeds University UK, where she inspires others to do so too. Kate analyses, designs and facilitates business English programs, customer service workshops, and leadership & communications coaching for a variety of clients across SEA from MNCs through to small SMEs, from illiterate learners through to C-suite executives.
